PROJECT TITLE: A Music Player

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Octaxy is a music player that lets you stream music online and offline. It offers a personalized-your-music feature whereby you select only the artists who are playing at the moment, so you can listen to your favourite tracks wherever you go. It is designed for different devices with different features.

DURATION: June 27, 2022 to July 2, 2022.

TOOL : Figma to design, Figjam to brainstorm and ideate

RESEARCH

I started with conducting a secondary research. We looked into different music apps, read articles relevant to the industry while comparing features between them. We wanted to understand what was already known by music listeners so we conducted competitive analysis. Some popular apps with which users have experience in streaming music is Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, Audiomack.

In order to make the app usable and interactive on different devices, we did a survey. We collated information about users’ interests, habits and opinions. We understood and learned from their desires and needs.

WHY OCTAXY?

Octaxy stands out for many reasons. One of them is that users can personalise their library, allowing them to only see songs from artists they love the most. There is more! You can also find songs you don't know using our in-app song finder, either with a few lyrics or the sound. In addition, all music on Octaxy is free, so there are no restrictions on listening.

PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

Problems

• Users find it difficult to find common interest artiste

• Doesn’t get updated when new releases of their favorite artistes are out.

• Tired of seeing several type music they aren’t interested in, in their music app.

• Users cannot find song they are interested in easily

• Cannot listen to music on other devices

• Have difficulties with paid music apps

Solutions

• Create playlist and share to friends

• Play my music from my watch, my car and in my bus

DESIGN PROCESS

Empathize:

From the research, many music lovers have favourite and want their favourite artiste. We understood users’ needs and how to design for music lovers.

Define :

After gathering our users' needs, their problems, and our insights, we were able to come up with insights, user persona, user story and problem statement built with both strategic focus and creative inspiration to unlock the best solutions.

USER PERSONA

Ideate :

We challenged assumptions and created ideas for innovative solutions by creating user flow, sketching and wireframes

Prototype:

Branding, design system, screens were created

Test:

After the preliminary review of the designs, all its shortcomings were identified and improvements were proposed for better user interaction and visual components . We did a usability test.
